Teens & Risks: Drugs, Alcohol, & Sex

Friday, Feb. 10; 12 -1:30 pm

Austin, Texas

Teens are wired for novelty and risk. This is usually one part of parenting that causes the most fear. How can we allow them the necessary freedom to explore their independence while educating them on their choices and increasing their safety? That is what this workshop is all about.

What we will cover:

  • How the adolescent brain is wired for risk
  • Creating healthy risks for teens
  • How to know if your daughter is at risk for dangerous choices
  • What protects our kids from risky choices
  • Facts about alcohol and drugs that all parents should know
  • Resources for your girls regarding sex
  • How to have these touchy conversations before your teen experiments
  • How to respond after they have made a “risky” choice

Who is this for?

This workshop is for any parent who wants to arm themselves with important information on these topics and wants to learn effective communication tools to have constructive conversations that make a positive impact on their teens. This is for any parent feeling worried or scared about their teen daughter's choices or her future choices.
