what girls are saying

"I thought the DVD (The Wisdom of Girls: Teens, Sex & Truth) was very helpful, and it motivated me even more to wait until I get married. I thought that [Barb] was very experienced and that she didn't hold back on anything. I learned that it's your decision if you decide you want to have sex then you can, just be protected. "

what adults are saying

Barb's presentation gave me language and ideas for talking with the girls I work with about sex and the decisions they make around it. The video helped me better understand what girls think about their decisions whether or not to have sex. It also gave me tools to help them navigate some big decisions in their lives. Barb inspired me to feel more comfortable talking about a topic that is sometimes difficult to discuss with teens, but is so extremely important for them to talk about with the adults in their lives.

Rachel Ladov - Director of Programs - The Girls Empowerment Network

One of the most remarkable things about our workshop, "Teens, Sex & Truth", was the atmosphere. The topic of girls and sexual decisions can be a challenging one for parents to think and talk about, and I bet a lot of parents aren’t comfortable talking about it at all. Inviting parents precisely for the purpose of hearing, learning, and talking about girls and sex created a climate of openness that I don’t think would be easy to achieve otherwise. Everyone knew that we’d be dealing with a sensitive but critically important area, and there was a lot of discussion. Barb’s DVD, knowledge, and personal manner, along with her commitment in this topic area and the remarkable atmosphere of the gathering, made this a very worthwhile evening.

Liza - mom to 5 year old Lilly

"Barb’s workshop and DVD offered a unique and important opportunity for the parents in our group to discuss what is too often an ignored topic. Barb’s leadership of the group allowed us to share our unique points of view and explore new avenues of thinking. Her presentation and accompanying video were an excellent catalyst for a frank and in-depth discussion among a group of dedicated and concerned parents who were eager to understand the issues facing or to be faced by our children. As a participant, I welcomed the opportunity to hear from the experts – the young women themselves – and to hear Barb’s informed analysis of some of the most important issues that my daughter will face as she grows up."

Melanie - Mom to 4 year old Lilianna

"I've reported to anyone who will listen that these have been the most comfortable, honest, creative conversations I've heard in a long time. Thanks for providing us with this opportunity. You are important."

Jane Jones - Maxwell, Locke & Ritter

"Barb is a great speaker – energetic. I liked that the activities were challenging but fun."

Mother of a 9th grader

"Great presentation, impressed that it got my daughter to participate."

Mother of a 5th grader

"Barb was very skilled at getting the group to talk. I like the exercises."

Mother of a 6th grader

"Barb has an amazing ability to connect with all audiences and keep them engaged. What is so special about her is that she is able to relate equally well with a group of adults as with a group of teens or even middle school girls! Her experience as a therapist and trainer combine to make her uniquely qualified to address a host of issues girls face."

Nicole Basham – The Girls Empowerment Network

"I can't believe my luck! As a speaker you were everything I had hoped for! I am still hearing positive comments about you! I thank you so much for coming to Highland Park. I feel the issues that you have studied are so very important and that most people would benefit from hearing you speak. I will always recommend you to our school district as a excellent source for training. Once again thank you so much for coming to our school!"

Toni Davis, Counselor - Elementary School

After knowing Mrs. Steinberg for approximately five years through GENaustin, I discovered her in-depth knowledge and research of young girls and their behaviors was a gift to our organization. Her classes/workshops have always been very powerful and popular. Mrs. Steinberg demonstrated a profound knowledge of the material and delivered it with a helpful and simple approach that was easily understood, earning her the respect and attention from all participants.

I firmly believe that Mrs. Steinberg would provide an excellent workshop/presentation that would benefit you. She is thoughtful, considerate, very intelligent, an "attention demanding" presenter, creative and hard-working.
